In 2005 this Guide to Involving Young People at Your Station was published as a joint collaboration between the National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcasters' Council and the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia.
The aim of this handbook is to help stations to look at different ways and means of engaging young people at their stations. The authors of this resource have a solid understanding of youth broadcasting and multicultural broadcasting respectively; they have drawn on their experience as a station manager of a youth radio station and as a multicultural youth project worker at the NEMBC.
The handbook covers youth outreach in the community, training, organising and managing young volunteers, access to airtime, engaging with ethnic youth, funding for youth involvement and relevant resources.
For more information on engaging young people at your station or for the latest youth engagement projects please contact Rachael, the Youth and Women’s Officer at the NEMBC, on youth@nembc.org.au or (03) 9486 9549.
